    Winter Training Series

Coaches: Molly Brannan & Emily Chadwell

For the eighth year in a row, VBC's Winter Training program will run from November to the end of March at the Downtown Boathouse. The program provides rowers the tools to develop and maintain fitness and technique over the winter season. Practices are held Mondays at 5:30 a.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m., and Saturdays at 7:30 a.m. Space is limited, so advanced registration is highly recommended!

Do you have questions or want to learn more? Join coaches Molly Brannan and Emily Chadwell for an informational meeting Saturday, November 18th at 7:30 a.m. at the Downtown Boathouse. Training begins immediately following the meeting, so come dressed in rowing gear. (You are also welcome to watch the first practice to get a feel for what it’s all about.) To register, go to virginiaboatclub.org. Under Rowing Programs, select Sign Up and Winter Training. Molly can be reached at Molly.Brannan@gmail.com if you have questions prior to the meeting.

Sessions fill up quickly, so advanced registration is highly recommended.

    2018 Learn-To-Row Spring Session Rockett's

    Coach: TBD

The Virginia Boat Club's Learn-To-Row program teaches adults how to sweep row in a rowing shell (4 or 8 person boats with a coxswain).  The program consists of 13 classes, approximately 90-minute each.

In the class students will learn proper rowing technique both on indoor rowing machines and on the water. Students will learn parts of the stroke, blade technique as well as rowing terminology and boat safety.  In the event of rain, classes will be held indoors.

For each class bring water to stay hydrated.  Form fitting clothing is best, as baggy clothing can get caught in the sliding seat as you row.  You will also need athletic shoes and sports socks.

The twelve classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:00 PM and on Saturday mornings at 7:30 AM beginning Saturday March 31, 2018.
