Learn-to-Row

Summer Session, Section 2

Instructor:  Bill Weirich

The Virginia Boat Club's Learn-to-Row program teaches adults how to sweep row in a crew boat (4- or 8- person).  The program is 4 weeks long and consists of twelve 90 minute classes.  The final class is participation in a regatta, either an inter-club scrimmage with local clubs or the Botanical Gardens Sprints Regatta in Norfolk.

In this class, rowers will learn proper body position, blade technique, and teamwork to enjoy the thrill, power and speed of rowing.  This program focuses on sweep rowing.  For more information, see our Sweep vs. Sculling page.

This section will have classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings at 6:00 pm.

Sessions fill up quickly so advanced registration is highly recommended.  There are only 11 openings per class and we reserve spaces on a first-come basis.
